Have a look at our open cut gold mine. You can talk a self guided tour and see for yourself from the viewing platform. The site is on top of a hill wher you can see the town. While the mine is no longer active, there is still gold to be found there.
The Peak Hill Hospital was built in 1904 and is now listed with the National Trust. A tourist drive map is available from the information centre which will guide you to see some interesting locations. 
The Bogan Weir is just 6km from town and provides shade for that picnic beside the water.
